In conjunction with World Environment Day, 5th June 2010, Lexus held its inaugural Lexus Hybrid Gourmet Hunt, which saw the participation of 31 Lexus Hybrid car owners and their friends and family. It was an afternoon of fabulous food, fun and company as participants were taken on an exciting expedition to various food locations around Singapore in search of great hidden food treasures while at the same time completing challenges at 6 different pitstops.
Before the flag off at 12noon, each team was given a Road Book which helped guide them to the various mystery food locations. The roadbook also contained some interesting quizzes where answers could only be found along the way to each food pitstop.
At each food station, teams had to work together to complete the tasks as stated so as to accumulate as many points as possible. The top 3 teams with the most number of points at the end stood to win attractive Lexus prizes.
The first 4 pitstops were conducted in a round robbin fashion, and participants had to visit them all to complete the challenges that await at each station by 3pm. The four pit stops included, Kim Joo Kwan at North Bridge Road which is famous for its sliced BBQ pork (Bakwa) traditionally cooked using charcoal; 968 Popiah at Whampoa Drive which serves creative sushi popiahs ; Beach Road Sliced Fish Noodles & Duck Rice which often sees long queues of customers; and last by not least, Hooked on Heads which is well known for its rich tangy mee siam and prawn paste chicken wings.
The first checkpoint where everyone gathered was Mr Chicken Rice at Downtown East, whose owner is the chef who came up with the recipe for the infamous Chatterbox Chicken Rice.
To get to the end point, participants were put to the challenge of navigating their way to the elusive Sunset Grill at Seletar East Camp which is popular for its spicy buffalo chicken wings and views of the skyline.
The hybrid cars and driving skills of participants were put to the test as teams participated enthusiastically in a fuel efficiency challenge. Teams were judged based on their car’s fuel consumption for the length of the event and were rewarded with attractive prizes. This simple challenge proves the fuel efficiency of the Lexus Hybrid Drive System and reinforces how we as drivers can make smart choices by driving hybrid cars and enabling lower emissions to the environment.
To commemorate the fun-filled event, teams were encouraged to come up with creative poses with their cars during the photo taking session. Everyone was pleasantly surprised when presented with an 8R printout of their team photos at the last checkpoint, and one selected team even walked away with the “Best Team Picture” prize.
The event drew to a close with the prize presentation followed by a lucky draw where 10 lucky participants received various prizes sponsored by BMS, Citibank, Touch Spa, Penline, Wheels-For-Fun and Golf Vacations.
The Hybrid Gourmet Hunt was indeed a huge success as all our participants had a wonderful afternoon feasting and bonding with their friends and family. We definitely look forward to seeing everyone again at our next Lexus Club event!
